When it comes to foods that lower cholesterol, this is not one that comes to mind. Now you may think I’m nuts but, I’m serious about what I’m about to share with you according to an article I just read.

According to researchers a handful of pistachios may lower cholesterol and provide the antioxidants usually found in leafy green vegetables and brightly colored fruit, according to a team of researchers.

How many Pistachios are we talking about here? Pistachio amounts of 1.5 ounces and 3 ounces - one to two handfuls - reduced risk for cardiovascular disease by significantly reducing LDL cholesterol levels and the higher dose significantly reduced lipoprotein ratios.”

Foods that Lower Cholesterol is Only Part of the Overall Plan - part 2

Welcome back, let’s finish our discussion from part one.

Now it is time for you to clear up that artery & that artery wall damage
after you have decreased the amount of cholesterol that is flowing freely in your blood stream.

Step four: At this point in your plan it’s time to start repairing the damage that was done to your artery walls and your heart itself that led to the problem in the first place.

Now that you’ve lowered your cholesterol, removed the built up cholesterol from your artery walls, and you’ve begun to repair the damage that was caused before you started your quest to improve your heart health. You are ready for step five.

Step five: This is where you implement your maintenance program to ensure that all of the good work you did in the first four steps doesn’t go to waste.

It is at this point that you should have implemented and continued to make certain lifestyle changes that will hopefully improve your overall health and decrease your heart attack risk for good.

Having high cholesterol and worrying about whether you are going to have a heart attack is very stressful.

You can eliminate or decrease your chances for having a heart attack by educating yourself, following a simple plan like this one and by implementing a cardiovascular maintennance plan.

Remember that old saying, “knowledge is power”? Well that isn’t really true. “Knowledge is POTENTIAL POWER”, until you put that knowledge you have gained to work it is useless.

Talking about Foods that Lower Cholesterol is only part of my goal with this blog. Today I thought I’d add a short article I wrote some time ago to help explain the seriousness of having high cholesterol and heart disease. This article lays out an abbreviated plan for reducing your cholesterol level and heart attack risk.

The cost of heart disease on globally is staggering. Current treatment methods help but they do not provide a cure for this multi-billion dollar health problem. So I ask you as you read this take the information you’re about to read seriously and remember, “The life you save may be your own”.

It seems like almost every day there’s a news story talking about heart attacks, high cholesterol, or other heart related problems. It’s easy to understand why, because millions of folks worldwide are affected.

But, with so much information coming out every day people start to get confused about what to do, what information is correct, and how to improve their own cholesterol levels.

My goal with this article is to educate you and provide you with resources that will help you decrease your cholesterol and improve your health.

Lowering your cholesterol and decreasing your heart attack risk can be challenging but it is possible. Doing so actually involves a multi-step approach as outlined below.

Step one: You must learn what your cholesterol level is and how it increases your chances of having a heart attack. But, don’t just rely on your doctor to tell you everything, go out and get the information you need to educate yourself.

Keeping in mind that we are all different and the cause for your high cholesterol problem may be different than mine. But, it is possible to lower your cholesterol and improve your cardiac health.

Step two: Once you know your cholesterol is high, you need to reduce the amount of bad cholesterol in your blood stream and increase the amount of good cholesterol. I know pretty obvious, but you’d be amazed at how many people are stuck at this point.

Step three: The next step in your cholesterol reduction plan is to unstick the cholesterol already struck to your artery walls. This is something most people don’t even think about or are aware is even possible. You accomplish this through a combination diet changes (i.e. eating foods that lower cholesterol), exercise, and if needed medication.

Remember, your cholesterol didn’t just start to clog up for no reason and form an instant blockage in the center of your artery. No, there was some event that triggered a chain reaction that led to your cholesterol attaching itself to the artery wall.
